Our History

History

In 1935, Jack Brown founded Brown Cabinet Company in a small building behind his house at 1512 North Ridge Avenue. Initially, the shop produced wooden toys with a workforce mainly comprising women. Upon his return from military service in the 1940’s, the focus shifted to furniture crafting.

Jack and his son Doug continued to build furniture and gun cabinets, supplying local furniture stores. In the late 80s, Jack retired, passing the reins to Doug, who refocused the company on kitchen and bathroom cabinets, alongside desks, bookshelves, and entertainment centers.

In September 2021, Nick and Samantha Sanchez, owners of GLR Kitchen and Bath Design, acquired Brown Cabinet Company. Originally founded in Arvada, Colorado in 2005, Nick started as a brick mason and later expanded into tile installation and remodeling, focusing on fireplaces, kitchens, and bathrooms. In 2019 When Nick and Samantha moved to North Carolina they brought their expertise from Colorado to further expand the business. With Doug Brown's signature cabinetry, they've transformed GLR Kitchen and Bath Design into a full-service remodeling company, ready to bring your visions to life with unmatched craftsmanship
